The College of Science

TxBESS Conference (Texas Beginning Educator Support System)

Workshop Overview
The TxBESS Science and Math Teacher Workshop was a one-week conference for Texas k-12 math and science teachers that focused on contemporary science themes and included presentations, hands-on learning, and a full day field trip.  Day long themes revolving around the origins of life and the search for extraterrestrial life, field ecology and biodiversity, and nanotech and biotech were selected to highlight hot areas in science.

Presentations from acknowledged experts in the fields from various Texas Science Careers Consortium institutions or state and national experts provided topical updates of the day’s theme, overviews of the science and math behind the fields, and careers or industrial applications associated with these areas.
